Holy unexpected developments! Sony president Shuhei Yoshida has made no secret of his interest in what Oculus has been doing with virtual reality, but I don't think anyone expected Sony to announce a competetor to the Rift for the PS4 before it has even launched.
Both Eurogamer and CVG are reporting that they've got reliable sources telling them Sony is set to unveil a PS4 VR headset at the Tokyo Game Show in just a couple of weeks. Apparently, the headset was originally set to be unveiled at Gamescom but was pulled at the last minute and will now make it's debut on Sony's home turf in Japan.
Not many details about the device itself have been revealed, but it is supposedly being tested with Evolution Studio's PS4 racer Drive Club, and allows you to look around freely inside the car while driving. It will be sold separately from the PS4 as an optional addon, much like the PS4's camera device.
Hype Up will be reporting live from the Tokyo Game Show, so if Sony busts out a VR headset, we'll be right there to check it out and let you know whats what.
