Sony held their Gamescom press conference last night and officially announced a release date of November 15th for North America and November 29th for Europe. No release date for Japan has been announced as of yet, but some are speculating that it may not arrive until 2014, with Sony choosing to focus on more competitive markets first. In other words, Sony has no competition in Japan so they can afford to hold off a couple months to build inventory if they want to.
Twitch streaming has also been confirmed for the PS4, which means both Xbox One and PS4 players will be able to stream their gameplay to Twitch. Previously it looked as if PS4 would support only Ustream, while Twitch is much more popular among gamers.
The day one launch lineup for the PS4 has also been confirmed, with 22 titles available on November 15th, many of which are triple A titles. Among the games available at launch are Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, Battlefield 4, Call Of Duty: Ghosts, Driveclub, FIFA 14, Lego Marvel, Madden 25, NBA Live 14, Need For Speed Rivals, and Watch Dogs. Quite possibly the best launch lineup ever for a console, with more titles like InFamous Second Son still to come within the 3 month launch window.
Sony also showed off a more in depth look at the PS4's user interface, which you can see below in the replay of their press conference.
