Those counting down the days to the end of the month are due a little treat next week when a playable demo of much-anticipated RPG Final Fantasy XIII-2 gets released on PSN and Xbox Live stores.
While the existence a demo would not usually be newsworthy, for some reason trial sections of RPGs are very rarely made available for download.
The sequel has received astonishingly positive reviews thus far, and this demo will give us all a chance to see if it lives up to the hype, or if we should thing about cancelling that preorder.
In the meantime, have a look at a video of a Moogle!

Cool I’ve been wanting to try out the game in English to decide if I’m interested.

That’s funny because I somehow managed to play FFXIII all the way through in Japanese.

I preordered the limited edition. The uber-fancy Crystal edition was sold out. But either way I’m getting it. Though a demo might be nice. I’m on Silver, so I’ll probably have to wait a week.

I can’t believe there was a limited edition that was actually limited. I would have gotten the crystal, but didn’t expect it to sell out 2 months before it was made >_<

Despite the good reviews, Tales of Xilia outsold FFXIII-2 by a pretty big margin. Final Fantasy has definitely lost some of it’s brand power. I hope the game is as good as the reviews think it is.

Downloadering it on my American PSN account now. Going well slow.

Do you not know somebody who has gold and will let you log in as them?
I downloaded and played it though on the PS3 last night. It seems pretty good (though I really enjoyed XIII), though I think the demo could have worked better if they hadn’t thrown you into a slightly confusing and pretty dull area. Hasn’t made me not want to get the game, anyway :p

Well, I’ve gone through the demo several times. I still want the game. There’s a few things I didn’t like about it and I think could be considered a step backwards, but at the moment the positives are outweighing the negatives.

i really don’t like the monster being the 3rd character :/

Hmm. Well I think it’s too early to say about that. I think it might become an extra dimension of strategy, since Monsters only have a set route of skills available to them. I mean, say you’ve got a boss weak against thunder coming up, having the Zerg Scandroid would work better than a Gremlin as a Ravager assistant.
But yeah, having a full third person made paradigm strategy a lot easier in FFXIII. The monster thing could be brilliant or a vast pain in the arse.

i don’t know why they thought it was a good idea to reduce the characters to 2, with 1 being boring and the other we know nothing much about. just seems like a weird choice
